May 3, 1926 - October 21, 2019
Ruby Evelyn Sullivan, 93, of Bee Branch, Arkansas passed away on October 21, 2019. She was born in Dodd City, Arkansas on May 3, 1926 to Homer Burns and Ethel Mae Burns. She is preceded by her parents, Homer and Ethel Burns; and husband of 59 years, Reverend Roy Wallace Sullivan Sr., siblings, Lillian Cargile, James Burns, Henry Burns, Hubert Burns, Joyce, Burns, and H.E. Burns. Evelyn is survived by her two sons, Homer (Suzy) Sullivan and Roy (Becky) Sullivan Jr.; two daughters, Darlene (Tim) Robison, and Anita (Bill) Igou; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Gabe and Nicole and their children, Madeline and Mikayla, Caleb, and Andrea and Matt and their children, Henry, Annabelle, and Hazel, Riley and Whitney and their child, Brielle, Leslie and Alex and their child, Wilder, Devon and Sierra, Kendal, Hannah; siblings, Mary Mayo Rose, Bob (Ardith) Burns, and Rachael (Raymond) Ash. There is no greater task than trying to condense 93 years of life into a few words, especially the life of Evelyn. Being a follower of Christ was who she was. Her love and faithfulness to him was first and foremost in her life. Second to that was love and loyalty to her family. She honored her parents well until their deaths. Being one of the oldest of ten, she was part caregiver and protector to her siblings. One of the favorite family stories that proves this is when mom and dad were going to celebrate one of their anniversaries with a trip to Saint Louis. It was going to be quite exciting because they seldom had the extra finances or time for such an adventure. Anyway, this anniversary trip included their children AND moms teenage brother and nephew. She loved her husband “until death do us part” and beyond. We, her children thought we were the apples of her eyes until the grandchildren came along! After they became a part of her family, we saw exactly what and how sacrificial love looks. Christmas now meant gifts halfway as tall as the tree and every grandchild’s favorite food. Evelyn was a giver. You didn’t want her to run your garage sale or you might end up “in the red”. If she thought someone needed what was being sold you can bet they left with it without an exchange of money. Evelyn loved good preaching and wonderful singing. In essence, one would never leave mommas house without love, a full tummy, a good story and a wonderful smile. Visitation will be at Bishop-Crites Funeral Home on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Service will be at Bishop-Crites Funeral Home on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 2:00pm with burial following to Bee Branch Cemetery.
